Skeeter Davis (born Mary Frances Penick) met a classmate, Betty Jack Davis, and they became fast friends. They had music in common, and when Betty Jack would sing, Skeeter would instinctively harmonize - and their "sound" was truly terrific! They began to appear at local events, and their enthusiasm and love of performing brought them to Detroit, where they cut some records for the Fortune label. But on May 23, 1953, Steve Sholes (RCA Victor A&R director in Nashville - who later had a role signing Elvis Presley) produced the girls' first recordings for Victor. On that day, The Davis Sisters recorded "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know (About Him)". This song went to the top of the Country charts for the two schoolgirls from Kentucky (it was covered on Columbia by Toni Arden for the pop market) - and for the next 3 months, events unfolded with dizzying and triumphant speed. The Sisters were booked for many appearances, some with Eddy Arnold in August. However, on August 2, 1953, the girls were returning to northern Kentucky from the Wheeling Jamboree in WVa, when in the early morning hours a soldier fell asleep at the wheel and hit their car head on. Betty Jack died instantly, and Skeeter was hospitalized with injuries, and had a lengthy period of recuperation - but Skeeter never recovered from losing her close friend and "sister", Betty Jack. At the Davis' family urging, Skeeter carried on with The Davis Sisters and began recording with Georgie Davis, Betty Jack's older sister. They continued for RCA Victor, and while their sound was spirited, there were no further hit records. The magic that existed between Betty Jack and Skeeter did not materialize between Skeeter and Georgie. The girls stopped recording in the Spring of 1956. Skeeter was talked back into the studio by Chet Atkins in 1958 as a solo artist - and Skeeter - partly in tribute to Betty Jack - began to overdub her songs and harmonize with herself - and once more, the "sound" was terrific. This first hit for the original Davis Sisters had Chet Atkins and Velma Williams Smith (guitars), Jerry Byrd (steel guitar), Ernie Newton (bass) and Hal Smith (fiddle). It stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell, and William Hurt. In The Incredible Hulk, a new backstory is established where Bruce Banner becomes the Hulk as an unwitting pawn in a military scheme to reinvigorate the supersoldier program through gamma radiation. On the run, he attempts to cure himself of the Hulk before he is captured by General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, but his worst fears are realized when power-hungry soldier Emil Blonsky becomes a similar but more bestial creature.nnAfter the mixed reception to the 2003 film Hulk, Marvel Studios reacquired the rights to the character. Leterrier, who had expressed interest in directing Iron Man, was brought onboard and Penn began work on a loose sequel that would be much closer to the comics and the 1978 television series of the same name. In April 2007, Norton was hired to portray Banner and to rewrite Penn's screenplay in order to distance itself from the 2003 film and establish its own identity, although he would go uncredited for his writing. Filming mostly took place in Toronto, Ontario, from July to November 2007. Over 700 visual effects shots were created in post-production using a combination of motion capture and computer-generated imagery to complete the film.nnZak Penn, who wrote a draft of the first film in 1996, said the film would follow up Hulk, but stressed it would be more tonally similar to the TV show and Bruce Jones' run on the comic. He compared his script to Aliens, which was a very different film from Alien, but still in the same continuity.[11] He included two scenes from his 1996 script: Banner jumping from a helicopter to trigger a transformation, and realizing he is unable to have sex with Betty.[41] After the studio rejected a treatment by another screenwriter in 2006, Penn wrote three drafts before departing in early 2007 to promote his film The Grand.[42] Norton, that April, began discussions to play Banner, and arranged a deal that included him as both an actor and a writer, with a screenplay draft he was contractually obligated to turn in in under a month. He did so, and continued to polish his draft as late as halfway through principal photography.[42] In November 2006, a June 13, 2008 release date was set.[43] Leterrier acknowledged the only remaining similarity between the two films was Bruce hiding in South America,[7] and that the film was a unique reboot, as generally audiences would have expected another forty-minute origin story.[44] There were previous discussions to set the first act in Thailand.[45] Leterrier felt audiences were left restless waiting for the character to arrive in Ang Lee's film.   Less
