Suddenly, without provocation, the man reaches down and punches the boy in his stomach. He then casually walks toward the door.nnThe boy falls to his knees, doubled over in obvious pain. The man pauses, just for a second, to look over his shoulder at the boy, before walking out.nnSurveillance video captured this shocking encounter, which happened last week at the KIPP DC Spring Academy in Washington DC. The boy in the video, 7-year-old John Mclean, told CNN affiliate WJLA that the punch to the gut was “real painful.”nnIt was painful for John’s mother to see as well. She says the man who punched her child is a fellow parent at the school.nn“You watched my son on that ground and you didn’t do nothing … and all you could say to me is you were playing,” said Lena Mclean, who requested a copy of the video from the school.nnThe man has not been arrested yet, something Mclean is hoping for.nn“You don’t bully a child, you don’t torment a child. I wouldn’t do that to you. I wouldn’t do that to none of your kids,” she said. “I’ll feel much better when he is locked up.”nnA police report has been filed, and police are investigating.nnIn a letter to parents, the school said, “The health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff remains our number one priority and we will continue to work closely with the police to ensure that students and staff are safe at school.”   Less

The question is: was the beating necessary to restrain West or was it handed out by a deputy who wanted to teach her a lesson?nnWest, a tourist from Texas, admits she cursed at Deputy Kristin Connelly about 10 hours after she was arrested on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges at the Elbo Room on Fort Lauderdale Beach, where she had too much to drink.nnWest said she began menstruating while wearing nothing but her jail jumpsuit and asked for a tampon. When Connelly told her to ask nicely, West did, but Connelly still refused (the jail doesn't give out tampons, only sanitary pads). That's when West told Connelly, "(expletive) you."nA newly-released video shows what happened next. Connelly, standing behind a desk, begins putting on latex gloves and approaches West. Deputy Henry Lawrence tries to block Connelly from getting to West. A witness also seen in the video, an inmate who spoke with Local 10 on condition her name not be used, testified that Lawrence told his fellow deputy, "Don't do it, don't do it." But Connelly gets past Lawrence and the moment she snaps on the second glove, she snatches West from her chair and begins to wrench her across the room.nn"She grabbed the girl and starting swinging her back and forth," said the witness. "I'm sitting there and I'm just in shock."nn"Did (West) do anything physically to provoke this?" Local 10 News investigative reporter Bob Norman asked her.nn"No, nothing," the witness said.nnALSO: Witness, photographer contradict BSO account of deputy-involved shootingnnAfter she is thrown across the room, West turns back to Connelly and fights back, a move West's attorney, Gary Kollin, said was instinct.nn"It's only human nature to defend herself," Kollin said.nnConnelly and Lawrence push West onto a desk and then onto the floor, where Connelly controls her and pushes West into a small changing/strip search room. Deputies Joyce Johnson and Dorothy Jenkins immediately follow her inside the room, which is not equipped with a video camera, and the door is closed. West is escorted out by Connelly and Johnson about 3 1/2 minutes later. West suffers the brunt of her injuries -- a badly blackened eye and bruises about her body -- while inside the room.nn"I was on the floor on my stomach and (Connelly) punched me on this side of the face," said West. "And I was being kicked and stepped on from behind, and she was punching me in the face. She punched me in the eye several times."nnThe internal affairs investigative file that the Broward Sheriff's Office released to West's attorney indicates that the only report initially filed on the incident by deputies was an "inmate disciplinary report," done by Johnson for West, who complained of being attacked by Connelly and the other deputies. In it, Johnson wrote that West refused to enter the dressing room to change into a different-colored North Broward Detention Facility uniform and was verbally disruptive.nn"When Deputy Connelly attempted to escort West, she attacked Connelly," wrote Johnson.nnThe file indicates that Connelly wrote nothing about the incident. Six days later, West filed an internal affairs complaint against Connelly and the other deputies, and the BSO began an investigation. The following day, Connelly filed a probable cause affidavit filing criminal charges against West, alleging she had assaulted her and resisted arrest. She alleged suffered a facial injury and skinned knees in the altercation, injuries she failed to report at the time.nnAfter reviewing the case, assistant state attorney Mark Horn declined to officially file the case against West.nn"This attorney has viewed photos of the defendant and the video supplied by internal affairs," wrote Horn in his report. "In viewing the video, I did not see where Audra West presented a physical threat to the deputy before being forcefully dragged out of her chair into a room with four other deputies, where Audra West was allegedly beaten."nnDeputy tosses Audra West around In the affidavit, Connelly recounted West cursing and requesting a tampon.nn"I informed inmate West that she could not have a tampon, but I could get her a sanitary pad, and she stated '(expletive) you,'" Connelly wrote.nnConnelly wrote that she ordered West to go into the dressing room to change uniforms and wrote that West "crossed her legs in defiance."   Less

The video begins as officers were attempting to restrain 18-year-old Genele Laird. The woman told police she was trying to retrieve a phone from a Taco Bell employee, who she said had stolen it. In the video, Laird can be seen struggling with officers, refusing to put her hands behind her back. Laird is then pushed to the ground, kneed several times and even punched in the stomach. She was then tasered numerous times. Laird is later outfitted with a spit mask and carried to the back of a patrol car.   Less

Reno, NV - New details emerged from a witness who recorded a video of three juveniles beating two people after causing havoc at a Jo-Ann fabric store in Reno. The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. Tuesday at the store on the 3700 block of Kietzke Lane. A male juvenile and two female friends entered the store and knocked over a display, Reno police said in a news release Wednesday. The three juveniles were fighting outside the store when an employee asked if they needed help, said Derek de Glymes de Hollebecque, of Reno, who witnessed the incident.Police said the three juveniles began yelling obscenities at her and at the customers. The male juvenile then punched the employee in the face and all three - ages 12, 13, and 16 - then left the store, police said. Hollebecque was shopping with his girlfriend at the store when he heard screaming and yelling, he said. Hollebecque said he couldn’t ignore it and had to intervene. “I ran up to the front and saw an elderly manager in her 50s or 60s and a younger 20-year-old manager fighting with the kids,” Hollebecque said.Then he said he heard someone yelling, "That’s assault, that’s assault." “‘We can call the police for that.’” When the male juvenile pushed over the display, the store manager asked the group to leave, and that’s when he “launched at her face,” Hollebecque said. Then they pulled the younger manager by her hair, slammed her on her knees and smashed her face to the concrete ground and began punching her and kicking her in the stomach, he said.Hollebecque and another customer tried to separate them, but the three began to attack them too, he said. When the three left the store, the older employee and Hollebecque followed them in the employee’s vehicle to the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa parking lot.
