A shooting suspect led police on a wild chase after the driver fled the scene of a fatal shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade, Tuesday.nnAt around 9:30 a.m., Miami-Dade Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 95th Street in Northwest Miami-Dade.nnAccording to police, 58-year-old Israel Zequra was sitting in his wheelchair when he was shot. Those who live nearby said he was a very kind person who would ask for money along the 95th Street exit ramp on I-95. "I've lived here already for about four months so I've always seen him here. My mom has been living in the area for about five years. I would give him money. Sometimes he'd play guitar, and I'd give him a dollar," said resident Indiana Para. "I remember one time I was coming from, I don't remember, a party or something, and I was with a friend of mine, and all he asked us was for a bottle of water."nnNancy, who sold water next to the victim for years said he suffered from severe arthritis. "I come out here today, not for myself, but to sell water, so I can help pay for the funeral," she said. "He was very friendly. He spoke to everyone. He didn't have a bad bone in his body."nnAuthorities said a black male with a red shirt was seen leaving the scene in a gold Chevy Impala. A man who was driving nearby the shooting scene described the moments after the shooting. "I honked the horn, you know, and the car didn't move and a woman opened the door and told me there was a shooting, but I didn't understand exactly what was going on," said the witness. "When that car moved I saw another car parked right there on 95th Street, and I think that was the car involved with the shooting."nnThe motive for the shooting remains unknown. "It's sad. It's just sad. That's all I can say, sad," said one resident.nnAnother resident said, "There's nothing you can really say. The person is a coward. No feelings whatsoever for humanity. I mean, like they don't value life anymore. It's just sad."nnPolice units in the area spotted the vehicle and began to follow the car near Northeast Sixth Avenue and 55th Street. The suspect led police on a chase throughout the City of Miami and other parts of the county.nn"Witnesses were able to give a description of a vehicle and a subject that led officers to discover a gold-colored vehicle in a short distance nearby," said Miami-Dade Spokesperson Robin Pinkard. "At this time we do not know it is the subject of this homicide here behind me, but he does however match the description that was given to officers."nnDuring the pursuit the driver hit a car at the intersection of Northwest 82nd Street and North Miami Avenue. "He swerved to the inside of me, hit my rear-door panel on the driver's side, tire is flattened," said the driver, who wished to remain anonymous. "The other police car, unmarked car, swerved and avoided me, and I pulled into a strip mall here."nnAfter about a 15 minute chase, police eventually took the suspect into custody after the man crashed into a second vehicle and struck a barrier on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, just past the Miami Gardens Drive exit. The suspect could be seen crawling out of the passenger's door and surrendering to police.nnThe driver of the second vehicle was injured and transported to Aventura Hospital. He has since been released from the hospital.nnPolice have yet to release the name of the suspect. Less
