With funding from the US Government, the city took to the skies with Comstock as its leader. Together with his wife, Comstock produced an heir in their daughter, Elizabeth.Elizabeth, exhibiting bizarre reality-altering abilities, is imprisoned on Monument Island for scientific study which leads to rapid technological advancements. Having become the pride and hope of America, Columbia is sent on a world tour to demonstrate American ideals. But when Columbia fires on Chinese citizens during the Boxer Rebellion, the U.S. Government formally disavows the now heavily-armed floating fortress, and Comstock responds by seceding Columbia from the US. Columbia continues to enjoy immense growth by studying tears into other realities, allowing for its scientists to create technology that is otherwise not possible in that time period. Columbia begins to produces weapons, automated robots, and even strange powers called Vigors, all under the careful watch of their religious leader, Comstock.
